Privacy policy

GRIM Reaper is made by Bonneville Solutions, LLC ("we", "us"), who is responsible for the data described here. The short version: your projects stay on your Mac. What leaves it goes to Anthropic, so Claude can answer your request. We keep only what we need to run licenses and billing.

Using your own API key

With your own Anthropic key, GRIM Reaper sends requests straight from your Mac to Anthropic. They never pass through our servers, and we can't see them. Your key is stored in the macOS Keychain. Chats, settings and logs are stored in REAPER's resource folder on your Mac.

A request contains what Claude needs for the task: your message, and the relevant parts of your project, such as track names, MIDI notes, tempo, markers, FX names and settings, and, when you ask for mixing or mastering help, loudness and spectrum measurements and a spectrogram image of a render or reference track. The audio itself is analyzed on your Mac and isn't uploaded. Anthropic processes requests under its own privacy policy and commercial terms.

Licenses and trials

To activate a license or start a trial, GRIM Reaper sends our server:

We use these to enforce the trial and the 3-Mac limit, and we keep them while your license is active. Our server also sees your IP address, as any web server does. We don't store it with your license.

GRIM Cloud

With GRIM Cloud, your requests go from your Mac to our server, which forwards them to Anthropic. Our server reads the request only to authenticate you and to count usage. We don't store the content of your requests or Claude's replies. We store:

Payments

Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all orders. It collects your payment details, billing address and tax information, and processes them under its privacy policy. We receive your name, email address, country, what you bought, and the order and subscription IDs. We never see your card details.

Email

We email you license keys, sign-in links, receipts and notices about your subscription or these policies. We use Resend to send them. We don't send marketing email unless you opt in.

This website

grim.fm is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes visitors' IP addresses to deliver and protect the site. The site uses no cookies and no analytics. Fonts load from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google's servers.

Who we share data with

We don't sell your data or share it for advertising. We share it only with the services that run GRIM:

How long we keep it

We keep license and account data while your license or subscription is active, and for up to 7 years after, as tax and accounting rules require. We keep per-request usage records for 24 months. You can ask us to delete your account at any time. Deleting your data doesn't delete what's stored on your own Mac; you control that.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR and California law, you can ask to access, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Email [email protected]. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

We use your data to provide the service you bought (contract), to meet tax and legal obligations, and to prevent abuse of trials and licenses (legitimate interest).

International transfers

We and the services above may process data in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires it, transfers are covered by safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

Children

GRIM Reaper isn't intended for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and email license holders and subscribers before the change takes effect.
