Questions
What's an API key, and do I need one?
GRIM talks to Claude, which is made by Anthropic. With a License you use your own key from Anthropic's console and pay Anthropic for your usage, usually a few cents per request. GRIM Cloud includes the usage, so you don't need a key.
How far does the Cloud allowance go?
About 100 requests a month at the default settings. A request is one thing you ask for, like "add a drum fill before the chorus". Big projects and long requests use more of it. The meter shows exactly where you are.
What happens when the trial ends?
GRIM stops sending requests until you buy a License or subscribe. Your projects are untouched, and your chats stay on your Mac.
Can I switch later?
Yes. Cloud includes everything the License does, for as long as you're subscribed. If you already have a key, the License is usually the cheaper option.
Does it work on Windows?
Not yet. GRIM Reaper is macOS only for now, on Apple Silicon and Intel.
What does GRIM see of my music?
Only what Claude needs for your request: track names, notes, tempo, and for mastering, measurements and a spectrogram of a render. Your audio stays on your Mac. The privacy policy has the details.
